As a proud member of the Cherokee tribe, Bob Hickman (Chenhall’s owner and President) has extensive knowledge of not just the Cherokee, but the many other Native American populations in Oklahoma and beyond.
Tracing back from our owner’s roots in Western Oklahoma to his years at Oklahoma State University, Chenhall’s commitment to Native Americans is deep. Thanks to his Native American heritage, Chenhall’s is one of the few Cherokee TERO (Tribal Employment Rights Office) certified businesses outside the state of Oklahoma.
We believe that knowing where you come from is important, and Chenhall’s Native American involvement stems from Mr. Hickman’s lifelong dedication to diversity and minorities in the workplace. As a natural extension of that mission, Mr. Hickman is currently assembling a fund to offer internships, apprenticeships, and scholarships to young Native Americans in an effort to expand their presence in the professional world, with an emphasis on the financial and hospitality fields.
